A late-night robbery attempt was foiled in Indore on Tuesday after swift action by the city police led to the arrest of two accused within hours of the crime. The incident occurred in the Palasia area, where the suspects allegedly targeted a small grocery store after closing hours.
According to police officials, the accused broke open the shop’s shutter around 1:30 a.m. and attempted to flee with cash and valuables. Alert local residents noticed suspicious movement and immediately informed the police control room. A patrolling team reached the spot promptly, forcing the suspects to abandon part of the stolen items while trying to escape.
A brief chase followed, during which both accused were caught near a nearby lane. Police recovered cash, a sharp weapon, and burglary tools from their possession. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused are residents of Indore and have previous criminal records related to theft and chain-snatching.
CCTV footage from nearby shops played a crucial role in identifying the suspects and reconstructing the sequence of events. Police officials stated that the footage clearly showed the accused breaking into the shop and attempting to flee when locals raised an alarm.
The shop owner, while shaken, expressed relief and praised the quick response of the police. “Because of timely action, a major loss was prevented,” he said.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating whether the accused were involved in similar crimes in other parts of the city. Authorities have also increased night patrols in sensitive areas to ensure public safety.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately, as community cooperation continues to play a key role in controlling crime in the city.
